John Pickart is a senior investment strategist with Ronald Blue Trust’s Investment Strategy Group (ISG), which operates out of the company’s corporate office in Atlanta, Georgia.
John consults with wealth advisors in matching investment objectives with a customized investment strategy for individual and institutional clients. The ISG is responsible for analyzing investment vehicles, selecting appropriate public and private investment opportunities for clients, constructing portfolio solutions along with performing ongoing due diligence of investment managers.
Prior to joining the ISG, John served as a managing director, executive vice president, and portfolio manager at Franklin Templeton Investments where he designed and managed alternative strategies, including commodities, managed futures, and global macro. Before that, he co-founded Pelagos Capital Management (later acquired by Franklin Templeton), where he was partner, chief financial officer, chief investment officer, and portfolio manager. While there he engineered and managed more efficient portfolios by creating and incorporating alternative investment strategies. In addition, John has been a principal and senior portfolio manager at State Street Global Advisors (SSgA). He received four-star Morningstar rankings for funds managed at both SSgA and Franklin Templeton.
John earned his BS from the University of Tampa and his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
Active in his community, John has been involved with small groups, men’s retreats, and some financial responsibilities at his local church. He previously was a coach for and served on the board of Hingham Little League. He also was a Cub Scout Pack committee chair and a local youth basketball coach.
John and his wife, Julie, have two adult sons and live in Atlanta, Georgia.
